Description

Satsuma are the most consumed citrus fruits by the Japanese, under the name Mikan or Unshu.
Satsuma is the name of the ancient province of Japan where the tree has been selected and cultivated since the 16th century.
One million saplings were exported by sea in the early 20th century for planting in Florida.

The Okitsu variety is earlier than Owari: harvesting from October to November.
The fruit is juicy with few seeds and peels easily.
They can be eaten still a little green for those who prefer more acidity.
Once orange, the fruit is soft and sweet, with an intense scent of mandarin.

The Okitsu tree is vigorous and highly productive, thornless and upright.
