Serviceberry bushes in bloom

The flowering of the adult serviceberry (amelanchier alnifolia) is sudden and spectacular.

Called Juneberry by the Americans, Saskatoon by the Cree Indians, the saskatoon tree is native to Canada.
This one is 12 years old. It produces fruits in profusion, like blueberry grapes, blue or purple but with a different taste. By planting a hedge with several varieties, the harvest is spread out.

Each little flower will become a berry. We will show them to you in June.

A serviceberry hedge does not need full sun. The fruit will ripen anyway.

The borage (Borago officinalis) is melliferous. The proof in pictures.

In the afternoon on a borage grove, there are always bees.
Borage makes new flowers every day throughout the summer.
The yellow and red bush is…
… Forsythia, easy
…and Japanese quince (Chaenomles japonica), more difficult to guess.
