Description

The Beni Madonna orange is renowned as the juiciest of oranges, a recent Japanese creation that has been the pride of Ehime Prefecture since 2010.
Early (December) and very sweet, its gelatinous pulp melts in the mouth.
It is a Tangor, a multiple hybrid of mandarins and oranges, and the first of the “Jelly Citrus”.
It is now being grown in China and Korea, and hybridization continues to produce new varieties with a melting texture.
This very thin-skinned fruit is difficult to peel, and is best eaten with a knife.

The tree is vigorous and productive.
Fruits are delicate in the event of hail or heavy rain.
