Description

Thomasville is an American-made citrangequat, a complex hybrid of kumquat.

The result is a bushy, cold-hardy tree with exceptional fruit.
These are large kumquats (50gr +), delicious to eat with the skin on, thin and sweet.
The fruit can remain on the tree for more than a year, at first yellow and acidic, and can be squeezed for their lemon-like juice.
Then they turn orange and become soft and sweet in early summer.
The Thomasville is often covered with both fruit and flowers in spring.

Be careful, as these fruits ripen slowly and late, and must survive an entire winter on the plant.
However, small fruits can freeze at as little as -3 degrees C.
To avoid this and to enjoy the fruits, it may be necessary to keep this plant in a pot and shelter it over winter.
The adult size is quite modest and allows for this, but do not place it in a heated area.
The plant must remain dormant throughout the winter. Regular temperatures above 18 degrees C should be avoided to prevent vegetative awakening.

The tree is moderately vigorous, thornless and untidy growing. It can be pruned green in summer.
