Description

Satsuma is the citrus fruit most commonly consumed by the Japanese, under the name Mikan or Unshu.
Satsuma is the name of the ancient Japanese province where the tree has been selected and cultivated since the 16th century.
One million saplings were exported by sea in the early 20th century for planting in Florida.

The Iwasaki variety is the earliest of all Satsumas: harvest from November in Switzerland, depending on climate.

The fruit is juicy, with few seeds, and is easy to peel.
Can be eaten slightly green for those who prefer more acidity.
Once orange, the fruit is soft and sweet, with an intense tangerine fragrance.

The Iwasaki tree is not very vigorous, but productive and thornless.
